Milagros!

April 13, 2020

Hello everyone! There is not too much to report for this week.  Still stuck in the house just calling people all day. It's getting a little old but I know this is all temporary so I am just trying to enjoy all the benefits while I can!

We bought like 20 traps to catch all the rats, and prayed that we could get rid of them. All were baited with girl scout cookies and peanut butter. I guess they don't like those things because we stopped hearing them! We didn't catch any, but we also can't hear them anymore... so that was kind of an unexpected answer to our prayers!

We saw some CRAZY miracles this week! Like, someone we are teaching, Anibal, invited his cousin to join our video call! His faith is so strong already that he wants to do missionary work! Anibal shared a POWERFUL testimony of the Book of Mormon to his cousin, it was awesome! We also got a video call from someone that we have never even heard of before. We were very confused, but answered the call anyway. She basically just said, "I want a book of Mormon and I want you to teach me". That phone call came out of NOWHERE and it was so miraculous. The craziest part is, her name is "Milagros" which means "Miracles" in spanish! We also got a text from someone we don't know that said "Are there 3 kingdoms of glory?" It came out of nowhere but we were happy that they were interested enough to contact us. Super cool!

Other updates! We made a facebook account for this companionship so that future missionaries don't have to start from scratch and re-follow the whole ward and all of the people we teach. So now I am running 2 facebook accounts and a facebook page! I am just trying to grow the page as much as I can but I havn't physically met anyone since I got here a month ago so I don't really know who I should be friends with. A little difficult but está bien! We have been trying to make fun videos to post, but we have had some technicaly difficulties and can't post them. That's a long story! But you ought to look out for videos on our page that will be posted in the future! They took forever to make haha! The page is called La Iglesia De Jesucristo De Los Santos De Los Últimos Días en Olmstead.

Anyway...  Hope you all are safe and healthy and staying sane! We started the quarantine on March 17 and were told that (as of right now) we will go until April 29. But it keeps getting extended so its possible it will be longer.  This week felt super long and we are going crazy, but this will likely be an experience I will not forget! Have a great week!

PS. I sent the address to the mission office a few weeks ago, but some people were asking for my apartment address too so here it is! Feel free to order pizza or uber eats or something *wink wink* my birthday is coming up. And it turns out that I think packages are safe to be delivered here, since we are here all day. But after the quarantine... maybe not haha.

Fireworks or Gunshots?

October 16, 2019 I feel like I am in an episode of Naked and Afraid. Except I'm not naked, I am just afraid. Haha just kidding, but I do feel like I am on survival mode, because we made popcorn in the drying machine because our house doesnt have a microwave. My district also likes playing a game that we like to call, "Fireworks or gunshots". Every night we hear loud bangs, and most of the time it is fireworks. But sometimes, it sounds more like a gunshot, and then we usually hear police sirens afterwards. So we all make guesses on if its a firework, or if someone got shot. Kinda sketchy, but theres not very many other games we can play haha. The CCM is starting to grow on me! Its literally prison but I am used to it. I am on week 3 of 6, so I am halfway done! The first 2 weeks were really, really hard, but I think I have adjusted to the lifestyle by now, and warmed up to everybody. But staying inside the classroom all day, everyday is driving me crazy! I am counting down...

Zone Conference Week

August 16, 2021 What's good!!! This week was Zone Conference week, so we were running all over the mission giving trainings and making sure everything went smoothly. It was my last Zone Conference ever, which was sad, but I was honestly pretty relieved after it was over because its really stressful organizing the whole thing. Departing missionaries are always asked to share their testimony at their last Zone Conference, but because I attended ALL the zone conferences, I got to do it every day.  We dropped Elder Money off at the airport on Thursday morning! It was super sad! I love that guy. He was such a great companion! Elder Call and I actually had time to do normal missionary work yesterday for the first time in months! We grabbed a stack of Book of Mormons and rode the subway up and down Manhattan for a few hours and passed out as many as we could. Elder Call met a guy named Nephi who isn't even a member of the church. It was so cool. I met a guy from The Bronx that spit ...

"Hurricane" Henri

August 23, 2021 To whom it may concern, This week was great! There was a hurricane over the weekend so we were in a hurry trying to contact parents and get missionaries who live on the coast to safer places to live as we waited out the storm. We were all very underwhelmed because it was probably the weakest hurricane in history haha, but I am glad no damage was done! All missionaries were on lockdown and church was cancelled. We live in the same building as President and Sister Holmes, so we were on lockdown with them and spent the day working on things together. I feel extremely blessed. They are changing my life every day. Elder Call and I got to proselyte a lot this week! It was my first time doing it in a few months, so we gave it everything we had, especially because neither of us have much time left to do it! We found a few new people to teach, but the biggest miracle was Mario! We met him at a taco stand when we were getting lunch. It turns out he was already meeting with t...
