Anibal's Baptism!

June 29, 2020

On Saturday, June 27th, I got to baptize Anibal! It was such a unique experience because the baptismal service was modified to follow the Corona Virus guidelines. First of all, because we have been teaching over video chat, the first time I met Anibal in person was at his baptismal service! We had to wear gloves and masks, and only 4 people attended the baptism. The rest of the people watched through Zoom. It was a little awkward because we couldn't hug him or shake his hand to congratulate him, we just stood 6 feet away and told him "congratulations!". But I wrote him a letter, baked him cookies, gave him a tie with my name on the back, and I gave him one of my nametags. Elder Goodman left behind one of his suits that didn't fit anymore so that I could give it to Anibal on his baptismal day! He was so happy!

A cool thing about Anibal is that he speaks 0 English and only a little bit of Spanish. His native language is called Mum, and it's not even on google translate because it is pretty much extinct haha. So sometimes it was hard to teach him because we barely speak the same language, but his faith is so strong that he still got baptized!

The whole New York City mission had a total of 15 baptisms this past weekend, and 4 of them were in my district! I know that I had literally nothing to do with that but it was a proud District Leader moment for me haha, my district is pretty awesome.

We also made some awesome food this week, my favorite being an improvised smores pie! I will send a picture because MAN it was good! Someone we are teaching also made us SO MUCH FOOD for no reason other than she is just an angel!! We were blessed with large quantities of delicious food this week!

We have a couple other baptisms coming up too, so stay tuned for that!

Have a great week!

Zone Conference Week

August 16, 2021 What's good!!! This week was Zone Conference week, so we were running all over the mission giving trainings and making sure everything went smoothly. It was my last Zone Conference ever, which was sad, but I was honestly pretty relieved after it was over because its really stressful organizing the whole thing. Departing missionaries are always asked to share their testimony at their last Zone Conference, but because I attended ALL the zone conferences, I got to do it every day.  We dropped Elder Money off at the airport on Thursday morning! It was super sad! I love that guy. He was such a great companion! Elder Call and I actually had time to do normal missionary work yesterday for the first time in months! We grabbed a stack of Book of Mormons and rode the subway up and down Manhattan for a few hours and passed out as many as we could. Elder Call met a guy named Nephi who isn't even a member of the church. It was so cool. I met a guy from The Bronx that spit ...

"Hurricane" Henri

August 23, 2021 To whom it may concern, This week was great! There was a hurricane over the weekend so we were in a hurry trying to contact parents and get missionaries who live on the coast to safer places to live as we waited out the storm. We were all very underwhelmed because it was probably the weakest hurricane in history haha, but I am glad no damage was done! All missionaries were on lockdown and church was cancelled. We live in the same building as President and Sister Holmes, so we were on lockdown with them and spent the day working on things together. I feel extremely blessed. They are changing my life every day. Elder Call and I got to proselyte a lot this week! It was my first time doing it in a few months, so we gave it everything we had, especially because neither of us have much time left to do it! We found a few new people to teach, but the biggest miracle was Mario! We met him at a taco stand when we were getting lunch. It turns out he was already meeting with t...

Grind Szn

August 9, 2021 Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week! I'm writing this email having spent 110% of my energy this week on the work of the Lord. I almost have no energy left other than the promise in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". I'm going into my 6th month with little sleep and an enormous workload, and It's catching up to me now, but I'll be okay. I seriously feel like the only thing keeping me going is Jesus Christ, which is an incredible feeling having given everything to the Lord. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm definitely not complaining, but I'm insanely grateful for the opportunity to serve. There is nothing more fulfilling than this work, and even though I feel like I've given everything I have, I still wish I could give more. We picked up 31 new missionaries from the airport this week! Having to organize the logistics for their travel, hotel, and meals was pretty chaotic,...
