Zone Leader in Manhattan!

August 31, 2020

Hello everyone! This week was CRAZY. First of all, on Thursday I got a call from President Teuscher asking me to be a Zone Leader in the Manhattan Zone! I am pretty nervous because I have never done that before, but I am SUPER excited! My new area is Harlem, and my companion is Elder Davis!! Elder Davis sent me a message and told me that "the whole island is ours", and that our area boundaries literally cover ALL of Manhattan! I am so hyped! Elder Davis used to be my District Leader back in Queens, so I already know him and he is super awesome! As for Elder Larsen, he is a reassigned missionary from a mission in Mexico, and I have never met him before. I get transferred tomorrow, and I am going to miss The Bronx so much! I have really enjoyed all of my time in this area, even if most of it was spent not being allowed to go outside. Being a Zone Leader is a daunting responsibility but I am excited to figure it all out in Manhattan!

I went on an exchange this week to an area in The Bronx, called Concourse. Have any of you ever seen The Joker movie? I've never seen it, but there's a scene where The Joker dances down a giant staircase. Those stairs are in Concourse! So we drew smiley faces on our face masks and took pictures of us dancing on the stairs, it was super fun! I also got to visit Yankee Stadium!

Nazareth is still sick with Corona, so his baptism had to be pushed back a bit. Pretty sad that I won't be here to see him get baptized, but that's okay! I have no doubt that he will join the church once he recovers.

Here's a scripture I read this week that I really liked:

2 Nephi 32:5- "For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do."

I love that because half the time I feel like I have no idea what I am doing, but as I strive to be worthy of having the Holy Ghost as my constant companion, things tend to work out great!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!! ADIOS! AND BYE BYE BRONX!

August 9, 2021 Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week! I'm writing this email having spent 110% of my energy this week on the work of the Lord. I almost have no energy left other than the promise in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". I'm going into my 6th month with little sleep and an enormous workload, and It's catching up to me now, but I'll be okay. I seriously feel like the only thing keeping me going is Jesus Christ, which is an incredible feeling having given everything to the Lord. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm definitely not complaining, but I'm insanely grateful for the opportunity to serve. There is nothing more fulfilling than this work, and even though I feel like I've given everything I have, I still wish I could give more. We picked up 31 new missionaries from the airport this week! Having to organize the logistics for their travel, hotel, and meals was pretty chaotic,...

Goodbye New York City

September 13, 2021 It pains me to say that this was my last week as a missionary. We had a general authority (Elder Bassett) visit the mission all week, and Elder Call and I were in charge of the technology. I could probably write a whole email about all the miracles, struggles, and work that went into that. Maybe that's a story for another day. We picked up my replacement, Elder Wolfgramm, and have been training him on some things before I go. It has been an absolute blast being in a trio with them. I reflected a lot this week on the past 2 years and the things I have learned. I want to make a brief summary of my mission and say what I learned from each of my areas and companions! It will probably be boring for you, but it's mostly just for me to write down some thoughts to look back on one day haha. Mexico MTC - Elder Martin I learned spanish, kinda. Elder Martin has also taught me a lot about friendship and loyalty. He is SUCH a good friend. I am still learning from him ev...

EMERGENCY *MUST READ*

November 9, 2020 What's up!!!! I'm not sure if you all heard, but the elections were this week. We don't watch the news or anything so I received the update when the ENTIRE city went out onto the streets with cowbells, trumpets, frying pans, and other noisemakers to celebrate. It was crazy. New York is very very very blue. That's all I will say. I emailed President Teuscher about my concerns with my companion's obedience, and he said "I will see what I can do". Well he actually did a LOT to help! He made a whole PowerPoint presentation on obedience and shared it in a mission-wide devotional. We also had a mission leadership meeting in Queens this week and had a big discussion about how to help the 27 new incoming missionaries be obedient... the answer: WE ARE OBEDIENT OURSELVES. We made plans to do a 40 day fast as a mission from EVERYTHING we may cut corners on when it comes to rules. Anyway, I feel like my emails to President sparked a big mission-wide f...
