3 Companions, 1 Week!

October 12, 2020

HOLY COW! This week was crazy! So on Tuesday night, we got a call from President Teuscher telling Elder Davis that he is going to be the next AP, and that he leaves THE NEXT MORNING! We were not expecting that because transfers were still a week away, and we were almost 100% positive that we would both stay here together. So Wednesday morning we had an emergency switch-a-roo with companions, and I stayed in Harlem with Elder Skinner as my temporary companion for the week! Elder Davis and I were SO SAD that we were getting separated. We only got to be companions for 5 weeks, and 2 of those weeks were spent on exchanges (we did the math). It was fun while it lasted, but it was also fun getting to be with Elder Skinner! This past week I was really stressed out because I had to be the only zone leader in the zone, and I was leading an area I don't know very well yet. It happened so soon and with almost 0 notice, so it was just really shocking. I also wasn't allowed to tell anyone, which was a big challenge considering we call missionaries every single day and we usually lead zoom meetings together. I did my best but some people definitely figured it out. Oh well.

On my weekly accountability call with the AP's, Elder Davis was on the AP's side of the phone call, which felt really strange because he was my companion like less than 24 hours before that, and now I had to report stuff to him. At the end of the call, Elder Davis said "make sure I don't forget to give my metro card to Elder Hale at transfers." And I was like "ELDER HALE?!", and Elder Davis put his hands over his mouth and realized he wasn't supposed to tell me who my next companion is. He totally spoiled the surprise for me on accident and it was sooooo funny.

Elder Hale will be my new companion and he gets here tomorrow! I am hyped because we were in the same MTC district, and now we are reuniting in Harlem! Also, the Manhattan Zone got split in half, so I am now in the North Manhattan Zone. But it really doesn't restrict me that much because my area boundaries still cover all of Manhattan. The only real change is that I have less missionaries I am responsible for now.

Today for P-Day, Elder Skinner and I went to the top of the Rockefeller Center! It was so beautiful! Sadly, it was SUPER cloudy and rainy so we couldn't see very far. But it was still so incredible! On our way back, I ran into one of my favorite members from the Bronx, Hermana Blandon, in the subway!

Those are all my updates! Please pray for Angie and Jeynaliz so that they can be baptized in a few weeks. Have a great week!

The Transition

July 5, 2021 This week was President and Sister Holme's first week as our mission presidents! I've been super nervous about this week for the past 3 months, praying, fasting, and staying up too late thinking about all the things I would need to do as their assistant to help them the best I can. Well, this week turned out to be one of the BEST weeks of my life! It was absolutely amazing! As I explain some of the awesome opportunities I had this week, KEEP IN MIND we worked SO hard this week. Harder than ever before. It wasn't all just fun and games like it might sound haha.  First of all, I attended the transition dinner between the Teuschers and the Holmes, and it was really fun just hanging out and joking around with everyone. The Teuschers surprised me, Elder Money, and President Holmes with matching "unity ties". They have little boat steering wheels on them to basically say "you guys are in charge now". I am so so soooo grateful for that whole exper...

Fireworks or Gunshots?

October 16, 2019 I feel like I am in an episode of Naked and Afraid. Except I'm not naked, I am just afraid. Haha just kidding, but I do feel like I am on survival mode, because we made popcorn in the drying machine because our house doesnt have a microwave. My district also likes playing a game that we like to call, "Fireworks or gunshots". Every night we hear loud bangs, and most of the time it is fireworks. But sometimes, it sounds more like a gunshot, and then we usually hear police sirens afterwards. So we all make guesses on if its a firework, or if someone got shot. Kinda sketchy, but theres not very many other games we can play haha. The CCM is starting to grow on me! Its literally prison but I am used to it. I am on week 3 of 6, so I am halfway done! The first 2 weeks were really, really hard, but I think I have adjusted to the lifestyle by now, and warmed up to everybody. But staying inside the classroom all day, everyday is driving me crazy! I am counting down...

Harlem is ALIVE

January 11, 2021  BUENOSSS DÍAS A TODOSSSSSSS!!!!! How are you all doing? I am doing well, and my week was awesome! Hopefully you are all doing well! Let me know if I can pray for anything or anyone! Okay, here are some of the highlights from the week: - ALEJANDRO PASSED HIS BAPTISMAL INTERVIEW! We have only been teaching him for 5 weeks and I was confident he would pass. He is SO prepared! His baptism will be this Saturday and we are all so excited! He told us he wants to be in contact with us forever and one day get our grandkids together to tell them "our story". He is the best! I wish you all could meet him because he just RADIATES joy all the time. He is just so thankful he met us and found the church! - One of our favorite members, Hermano Herrera, invited us to go running with him one morning. We excitedly accepted, but we didn't realize what we had just gotten ourselves into. Apparently Hermano Herrera runs marathons and is an ANIMAL. We met him in Central Park a...
