Raquel's Baptism!

 May 31, 2021

Okay. This week was incredible! I'll keep it as brief as possible even though I could probably talk all day about this stuff.

RAQUEL GOT BAPTIZED! It was amazing! She is so happy, and has made some major life adjustments in order to be worthy. She feels amazing and couldn't be happier! She texted us the morning after and said "the next time you go talk to people about Jesus, I want to come with you". So we had her join us for some lessons, and she was inviting everyone to be baptized! It was awesome! She used to be a rockstar and lived a wild entertainer lifestyle, but now she is the holiest, most PRESTIGIOUS cat-sitter in Manhattan. No joke, she has about 300 clients and visits their lofts/rich apartments regularly to take care of their cats. So cool.

My friends, Jeri and Alex, who I met at work back in Arizona, and who also receive these emails (you guys rock by the way!) are meeting with missionaries! Because I helped in the process of finding and preparing them to be ready, I got to join in a lesson over Zoom one night, and it was such an unforgettable experience for me. THAT was joy. I felt so happy and I could tell they did too! Alex is preparing to be baptized on June 12th! Please pray for them that everything can go well!

I had my LAST interview with President Teuscher this week, and it was my first in-person interview since before Covid! It was incredible. Seriously life changing. I took pages and pages of notes afterwards to make sure I remembered all the advice he gave me to take for the rest of my life.

I had an incredible experience last night when we visited a member, Brother Moe. We somehow figured out that he was a transition assistant on his mission in Sweden, and helped train his new mission president, just like we are doing. WHAT ARE THE ODDS! Out of the thousands and thousands of missionaries in the world, only 2 missionaries get that experience every 3 years in each mission, so it's not very common to meet people who know what they are talking about. He gave us lots of REALLY good advice and told us what we should expect! I felt like God placed him in our lives to help relieve some of our stress, and to make sure everything goes smoothly in a few weeks.

We are moving tomorrow! Our current apartment is kinda small, dark, far from the church/subway station, and just doesn't work well for what we need. Our new apartment is a lot nicer and we are really excited! Moving all the furniture and deep cleaning the old apartment is going to be a big project for us though. Funny story, I ran into a free couch in Harlem and a free coffee table in The Bronx while I was doing Facebook finding in some local groups. We now have plans to pick up the furniture when we travel back and forth from exchanges this next week haha.

Last thing. Our friend Aaron has been having trouble finding out that The Book of Mormon is true. So, in our lesson, we brought pen and paper, and we all wrote down deep questions we have about life at the beginning of the lesson. We prayed on our knees, and then studied 3 Nephi 11 together. It was incredible to see how EACH of our questions were answered, even though they were all completely different. The Book of Mormon can seriously answer ANY questions you have. The spirit was super strong!

Have a great week!!! Love you all!!!

Fireworks or Gunshots?

October 16, 2019 I feel like I am in an episode of Naked and Afraid. Except I'm not naked, I am just afraid. Haha just kidding, but I do feel like I am on survival mode, because we made popcorn in the drying machine because our house doesnt have a microwave. My district also likes playing a game that we like to call, "Fireworks or gunshots". Every night we hear loud bangs, and most of the time it is fireworks. But sometimes, it sounds more like a gunshot, and then we usually hear police sirens afterwards. So we all make guesses on if its a firework, or if someone got shot. Kinda sketchy, but theres not very many other games we can play haha. The CCM is starting to grow on me! Its literally prison but I am used to it. I am on week 3 of 6, so I am halfway done! The first 2 weeks were really, really hard, but I think I have adjusted to the lifestyle by now, and warmed up to everybody. But staying inside the classroom all day, everyday is driving me crazy! I am counting down...

Zone Conference Week

August 16, 2021 What's good!!! This week was Zone Conference week, so we were running all over the mission giving trainings and making sure everything went smoothly. It was my last Zone Conference ever, which was sad, but I was honestly pretty relieved after it was over because its really stressful organizing the whole thing. Departing missionaries are always asked to share their testimony at their last Zone Conference, but because I attended ALL the zone conferences, I got to do it every day.  We dropped Elder Money off at the airport on Thursday morning! It was super sad! I love that guy. He was such a great companion! Elder Call and I actually had time to do normal missionary work yesterday for the first time in months! We grabbed a stack of Book of Mormons and rode the subway up and down Manhattan for a few hours and passed out as many as we could. Elder Call met a guy named Nephi who isn't even a member of the church. It was so cool. I met a guy from The Bronx that spit ...

"Hurricane" Henri

August 23, 2021 To whom it may concern, This week was great! There was a hurricane over the weekend so we were in a hurry trying to contact parents and get missionaries who live on the coast to safer places to live as we waited out the storm. We were all very underwhelmed because it was probably the weakest hurricane in history haha, but I am glad no damage was done! All missionaries were on lockdown and church was cancelled. We live in the same building as President and Sister Holmes, so we were on lockdown with them and spent the day working on things together. I feel extremely blessed. They are changing my life every day. Elder Call and I got to proselyte a lot this week! It was my first time doing it in a few months, so we gave it everything we had, especially because neither of us have much time left to do it! We found a few new people to teach, but the biggest miracle was Mario! We met him at a taco stand when we were getting lunch. It turns out he was already meeting with t...
