A Soul for a Soul

 December 7, 2020

HAPPY DECEMBER EVERYONE WOOHOOOOO!!!!!!! Other than it being mega cold, this week was pretty good!

I went to Queens on Friday for a leadership meeting and it was wild. We went down there with no SIM card (long story) so we couldn't use google maps or anything. I was a little nervous to navigate the subway without the assistance of the wifi gods, but I did it no problem! Light flex. The meeting was fantastic! I could literally see beams of revelation bouncing off the walls as we shared ideas with each other. Crazy stuff. Afterwards, I asked President what I need to do to prepare for Stake Correlation (because he asked me to lead the discussion for it), and my boi President Teuscher was like "hop on my Zoom tonight at 9:30 and I can give you some training for it", which was so nice! That zoom call was probably the highlight of my week, he took almost a whole hour out of his day to help me know what to do, and it was super helpful for me and I was really grateful! Stake Correlation was yesterday and I was SO nervous but I think it turned out well!

Elder Wooley's cousin hooked us up with a gift card to a soul food restaurant, because I guess Harlem is famous for that stuff. I didn't really know what soul food was, but now I know its literally ALL of my favorite foods put into 1 category!!!!!!!! Fried chicken, mac and cheese, pie, all that good stuff. It was DIVINE! My week of missionary work was spent saving souls while eating soul food. If you understand the reference in the subject of this email, I love you.

We found someone named Juan this week, and he is so solid. He pretty much told us he wants to hand over his whole life to God and he wants us to help him. So that's sweet! He also doesn't have work so he wants us to call him every single day. We are so excited! Our other solid people are Noemy and Omar! They are both amazing and the ward loves them! The work is going well! I love this work, I love this area, the ward, my companion, life is good.

This week flew by and I know more things happened but I can't remember anything else. But here is a quote I heard from one of my many meetings this week, I can't remember which one I heard it from:

"God is pleased with where we are, but never satisfied because He knows what we can become."

Amen.

Elder Webster

August 9, 2021 Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week! I'm writing this email having spent 110% of my energy this week on the work of the Lord. I almost have no energy left other than the promise in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". I'm going into my 6th month with little sleep and an enormous workload, and It's catching up to me now, but I'll be okay. I seriously feel like the only thing keeping me going is Jesus Christ, which is an incredible feeling having given everything to the Lord. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm definitely not complaining, but I'm insanely grateful for the opportunity to serve. There is nothing more fulfilling than this work, and even though I feel like I've given everything I have, I still wish I could give more. We picked up 31 new missionaries from the airport this week! Having to organize the logistics for their travel, hotel, and meals was pretty chaotic,...

Goodbye New York City

September 13, 2021 It pains me to say that this was my last week as a missionary. We had a general authority (Elder Bassett) visit the mission all week, and Elder Call and I were in charge of the technology. I could probably write a whole email about all the miracles, struggles, and work that went into that. Maybe that's a story for another day. We picked up my replacement, Elder Wolfgramm, and have been training him on some things before I go. It has been an absolute blast being in a trio with them. I reflected a lot this week on the past 2 years and the things I have learned. I want to make a brief summary of my mission and say what I learned from each of my areas and companions! It will probably be boring for you, but it's mostly just for me to write down some thoughts to look back on one day haha. Mexico MTC - Elder Martin I learned spanish, kinda. Elder Martin has also taught me a lot about friendship and loyalty. He is SUCH a good friend. I am still learning from him ev...

EMERGENCY *MUST READ*

November 9, 2020 What's up!!!! I'm not sure if you all heard, but the elections were this week. We don't watch the news or anything so I received the update when the ENTIRE city went out onto the streets with cowbells, trumpets, frying pans, and other noisemakers to celebrate. It was crazy. New York is very very very blue. That's all I will say. I emailed President Teuscher about my concerns with my companion's obedience, and he said "I will see what I can do". Well he actually did a LOT to help! He made a whole PowerPoint presentation on obedience and shared it in a mission-wide devotional. We also had a mission leadership meeting in Queens this week and had a big discussion about how to help the 27 new incoming missionaries be obedient... the answer: WE ARE OBEDIENT OURSELVES. We made plans to do a 40 day fast as a mission from EVERYTHING we may cut corners on when it comes to rules. Anyway, I feel like my emails to President sparked a big mission-wide f...
