Hey everyone!!!!!!! This week was really good! I will start with the most exciting stuff first. We had our transfer call and I am staying in Harlem as the Zone Leader, and my new companion is Elder Wooley! I actually found out we were going to be companions like 3 weeks ago so I wasn't too surprised when I got the news. But I am REALLY excited! Elder Wooley was MTC companions with one of my childhood best friends, Ryan Boyack (or Elder Boyack in the McAllen Texas mission woot wooot). Crazy how that worked out, small world! I have only heard GREAT things about Elder Wooley and I am SO hyped! We have been messaging each other and I can just tell we are going to be great friends!!!!!!!!! Seriously!!! SO PUMPED IM COUNTING DOWN THE MINUTES
They were filming season 1 of a TV show called Run The World right outside our apartment. Someone should look it up for me and tell me what they learn because I don't know much about it. We saw some actors (I didn't recognize anyone) and there have been massive cameras and lights everywhere. The very next day we were downtown and they were filming ANOTHER movie! I didn't even see the cameras and I totally walked RIGHT in front of the camera while they were filming a scene haha! One of the workers told us we were the "worst extras ever". I guess he just thought we were really bad actors that didn't know where the camera was. I don't know what movie it was and I doubt I will make an appearance, but I am definitely in the bloopers!
This upcoming week we are going to start using a new program that automatically sends friend requests to people on Facebook who speak Spanish and live in our area, so that we don't have to search so long for them! AND it automatically sends a message to them to start up conversations. Over time it will apparently accumulate thousands of people for us to talk to and hopefully we can teach some of them! The program is called Miles Habra, which means "thousands there will be" in Spanish. Stay tuned.
Our District Council this week was Christmas themed and it really got me in a festive mood. I bought some egg nog and broke out the Christmas pajamas and we started playing Christmas music every night! They already set up the giant Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center and I am excited to go see it one of these days. To everyone who thinks Christmas shouldn't be celebrated until December: have fun being sad until next month.
I wish I could say I had some news about the people we are teaching but it was pretty uneventful in regards to missionary work this week for reasons I won't say but some of you might be able to figure out based on past emails haha. Our friend Noemy had a powerful experience at church and has learned a lot about the power of the spirit in her own conversion. She is so awesome and is progressing really well! Here's a scripture I read this week that I felt like I should put in my email! I don't know who needs to hear it but I felt like maybe someone might benefit from it :)
Matthew 5:44- "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you"
Amen to that.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!! I am grateful for a family that used to make food for me all the time because I don't know the first thing about making a thanksgiving dinner this year (we aren't allowed to eat with members because of the masks) but Elder Wooley and I will figure it out, I'm not worried at all. The Teuschers are putting on a little cooking show tutorial for us over Zoom and we are going to make homemade pie and rolls as a mission from our separate apartments. It's going to be SICK. Have a great week!!
