I Got a Job at a Restaurant

January 25, 2021 Buenas tardes a todossssssss! No, the subject of this email is not clickbait, that really happened. Here are some of the highlights from the week:   1- We met a guy on Facebook that owns a restaurant downtown (right by the Empire State Building) called Exotic Empanadas NYC and it's rated 4.5 stars and apparently there is an article about him in the New York Times. He is legit. He told us he had an idea where he wants to not only fill people with food, but also fill them with the word of God. The only problem is, he is so busy cooking, he can't share the gospel at the same time, and he needs help. So, he asked us to come to his restaurant a few times a week and teach the gospel to all of his customers. ISN'T THAT SO COOL? Keep in mind, this guy isn't even a member of the church. So now we have Saturday shifts at a 4.5 star restaurant in downtown Manhattan to preach the word. He also gave us some free empanadas and they were SO GOOD! 2- A me...

Alejandro's Baptism

January 18, 2021 HELLO EMAIL SQUAD! How have you all been? This week was really really amazing and I had lots of powerful spiritual experiences. I think Elder Wooley and I might be allergic to the spirit because we kept getting teary-eyed throughout the week. Pretty strange. First of all, Alejandro got baptized! He was SO ready! The baptismal service went smoothly, and he loved every second. My favorite part was when he bore his testimony at the end. I think every person in the room started crying in that moment. He said that he has been praying for 30 years and never saw any answers come, and he started to doubt God's existence. But when he met us, he finally started to feel God's love, see answers come, had experienced a huge change of heart, and knows God led him exactly where he needs to be. It was so amazing to hear him say that and getting to see the small role I got to play in his conversion. My family was able to watch the baptism over zoom, which was also super cool! ...

Harlem is ALIVE

January 11, 2021  BUENOSSS DÍAS A TODOSSSSSSS!!!!! How are you all doing? I am doing well, and my week was awesome! Hopefully you are all doing well! Let me know if I can pray for anything or anyone! Okay, here are some of the highlights from the week: - ALEJANDRO PASSED HIS BAPTISMAL INTERVIEW! We have only been teaching him for 5 weeks and I was confident he would pass. He is SO prepared! His baptism will be this Saturday and we are all so excited! He told us he wants to be in contact with us forever and one day get our grandkids together to tell them "our story". He is the best! I wish you all could meet him because he just RADIATES joy all the time. He is just so thankful he met us and found the church! - One of our favorite members, Hermano Herrera, invited us to go running with him one morning. We excitedly accepted, but we didn't realize what we had just gotten ourselves into. Apparently Hermano Herrera runs marathons and is an ANIMAL. We met him in Central Park a...

New Years!

January 4, 2021 Happy New Year!! This past year for me has been INSANE. Just to sum it all up in a sentence, this year was spent in Queens, The Bronx, and Manhattan, with 8 companions, 3 baptisms, and a pandemic. Crazy to think almost a year ago we got locked inside our apartments with no idea what to do. I have always wanted to spend New Years Eve in Manhattan, and I finally got to do that this year. But Times Square was blocked off and apparently it looked like a ghost town. Completely empty. I was also in bed by 10:30 so it wasn't exactly the Manhattan new years I always wanted to experience haha.  Yesterday I got a call from the Hawaii Temple Visitors Center, and it was my good friend from home, Caitlynn Driggs! She had a referral for me and called to tell me about it! It was such a surprise talking to her haha and it was so fun! We took a picture together over the phone, even though it was just a voice call. I'll add the picture into this email so you know what I am...

SNOW STORM IN NYC

December 21, 2020   HELLO EMAIL SQUAD!! This week was FIRE despite it being quite literally the opposite of fire, since we got snowed on a bunch! I think we got a little less than a foot of snow here in Harlem. I was in HEAVEN! We went down to Central Park for exercise time and threw snowballs and made snow angels. I felt like I was in that one scene from Elf haha. I've said it before and I am going to say it again. I LOVE HARLEM! I seriously never want to leave! The ward, the food, the buildings, the people we teach, it's all so great! I could write a whole novel just about the members here, but for the sake of time, you will just have to take my word for it. They are the best. Yesterday at church, a member of the ward in Queens that I served in, Hermana Cruz, showed up with her whole family to our ward to be there for a baby blessing. I WAS SO CAUGHT OFF GUARD but it totally made my whole week! I love them and miss them so much! I got major flashbacks too haha. I love a...
