I Got a Job at a Restaurant

 January 25, 2021

Buenas tardes a todossssssss! No, the subject of this email is not clickbait, that really happened. Here are some of the highlights from the week:

1- We met a guy on Facebook that owns a restaurant downtown (right by the Empire State Building) called Exotic Empanadas NYC and it's rated 4.5 stars and apparently there is an article about him in the New York Times. He is legit. He told us he had an idea where he wants to not only fill people with food, but also fill them with the word of God. The only problem is, he is so busy cooking, he can't share the gospel at the same time, and he needs help. So, he asked us to come to his restaurant a few times a week and teach the gospel to all of his customers. ISN'T THAT SO COOL? Keep in mind, this guy isn't even a member of the church. So now we have Saturday shifts at a 4.5 star restaurant in downtown Manhattan to preach the word. He also gave us some free empanadas and they were SO GOOD!

2- A member from a different ward spotted us on the subway and started up a conversation with us. Long story short, she gave us $43 to get some food because we aren't allowed to eat with members right now and she felt bad. We tried our best to reject the money (we really did, I promise) but she had to get off the subway right then and was in a hurry and suddenly the subway doors closed and she was gone. We felt REALLY blessed. I can't think of any other time of my life where strangers will go up to me and just hand me money haha.

3- I got to go on an exchange with the AP's. It was pretty, especially because 1 of them was my previous companion and I miss that guy.

4- A lady from Africa moved into our ward this week and she was supeerrr nice! She gave me an awesome bracelet from Ghana. I'll send a picture of it in this email.

5- The work is going well, we have good amounts of lessons and are working really hard everyday. Elder Wooley is still a beast and I love him.

Enjoy some awesome pictures :) Have a great week!

August 9, 2021 Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week! I'm writing this email having spent 110% of my energy this week on the work of the Lord. I almost have no energy left other than the promise in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". I'm going into my 6th month with little sleep and an enormous workload, and It's catching up to me now, but I'll be okay. I seriously feel like the only thing keeping me going is Jesus Christ, which is an incredible feeling having given everything to the Lord. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm definitely not complaining, but I'm insanely grateful for the opportunity to serve. There is nothing more fulfilling than this work, and even though I feel like I've given everything I have, I still wish I could give more. We picked up 31 new missionaries from the airport this week! Having to organize the logistics for their travel, hotel, and meals was pretty chaotic,...

Goodbye New York City

September 13, 2021 It pains me to say that this was my last week as a missionary. We had a general authority (Elder Bassett) visit the mission all week, and Elder Call and I were in charge of the technology. I could probably write a whole email about all the miracles, struggles, and work that went into that. Maybe that's a story for another day. We picked up my replacement, Elder Wolfgramm, and have been training him on some things before I go. It has been an absolute blast being in a trio with them. I reflected a lot this week on the past 2 years and the things I have learned. I want to make a brief summary of my mission and say what I learned from each of my areas and companions! It will probably be boring for you, but it's mostly just for me to write down some thoughts to look back on one day haha. Mexico MTC - Elder Martin I learned spanish, kinda. Elder Martin has also taught me a lot about friendship and loyalty. He is SUCH a good friend. I am still learning from him ev...

EMERGENCY *MUST READ*

November 9, 2020 What's up!!!! I'm not sure if you all heard, but the elections were this week. We don't watch the news or anything so I received the update when the ENTIRE city went out onto the streets with cowbells, trumpets, frying pans, and other noisemakers to celebrate. It was crazy. New York is very very very blue. That's all I will say. I emailed President Teuscher about my concerns with my companion's obedience, and he said "I will see what I can do". Well he actually did a LOT to help! He made a whole PowerPoint presentation on obedience and shared it in a mission-wide devotional. We also had a mission leadership meeting in Queens this week and had a big discussion about how to help the 27 new incoming missionaries be obedient... the answer: WE ARE OBEDIENT OURSELVES. We made plans to do a 40 day fast as a mission from EVERYTHING we may cut corners on when it comes to rules. Anyway, I feel like my emails to President sparked a big mission-wide f...
