119 Miracles

 March 1, 2021

Another great week here in White Plains! We have just been SO busy! One day, we had 12 lessons planned all back-to-back. I counted, and we had an average of 7 lessons planned per day, which is PRETTY AWESOME if you ask me. This area is legit.

I posted an ad on Facebook for free English classes, which I have done several times before but I rarely see much come from it. Well this time, I got 119 COMMENTS AND 9 SHARES from people wanting to come to the class! I was able to set up lots and LOTS of appointments to tell them about the class, and ask if they were interested in doing free bible studies with us. I've setup several return appointments for gospel lessons and we have been very busy! Miracle!

We were trying to baptize our friend Jorge on Saturday, but long story short, it didn't happen. We tried setting up the interview, but Elder Taylor's phone broke and we didn't receive the messages from President Teuscher (oof), and the baptism just never happened haha. After a few phone calls and the entire zone praying for us, we were able to setup the interview for tomorrow and hoping the baptism happens THIS Saturday! We have mission goals to baptize 40 people every month, and we think God wanted Jorge to get baptized in March, because we already achieved our February goal. Please pray for him that he will pass his interview!

I got to go over to President and Sister Mortensen's house this week! I've mentioned this before, but they represented Adam and Eve in a church video. If you know, you know. It is so cool seeing them because they are just SO righteous you can FEEL it, and its also just cool seeing them in real life other than in the video. Their kids were making snow cones out of snow in the backyard, and they gave me a little ticket to buy one from them haha. They made me a piña colada snow cone and it was really good!

I went on an exchange with the office elders, and I went with Elder Barnes. Nothing too crazy happened, but their apartment, being on the 23rd floor, had a view of Manhattan, and it felt really good to see! I know its crazy, but the city just feels like home to me now. White Plains is awesome but I spent almost 17 months in the city, so it was just really nice to see it again from a distance. We unexchanged in Yonkers, which is basically just The Bronx, but we have cars. It was wild. Their chapel looks really run down and old haha, I will attach a picture of it into this email so you can see.

That is pretty much all the notable things from this week. How are y'all doing? I hope all is well! Let me know! Have a great week!

August 9, 2021 Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week! I'm writing this email having spent 110% of my energy this week on the work of the Lord. I almost have no energy left other than the promise in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". I'm going into my 6th month with little sleep and an enormous workload, and It's catching up to me now, but I'll be okay. I seriously feel like the only thing keeping me going is Jesus Christ, which is an incredible feeling having given everything to the Lord. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm definitely not complaining, but I'm insanely grateful for the opportunity to serve. There is nothing more fulfilling than this work, and even though I feel like I've given everything I have, I still wish I could give more. We picked up 31 new missionaries from the airport this week! Having to organize the logistics for their travel, hotel, and meals was pretty chaotic,...

Goodbye New York City

September 13, 2021 It pains me to say that this was my last week as a missionary. We had a general authority (Elder Bassett) visit the mission all week, and Elder Call and I were in charge of the technology. I could probably write a whole email about all the miracles, struggles, and work that went into that. Maybe that's a story for another day. We picked up my replacement, Elder Wolfgramm, and have been training him on some things before I go. It has been an absolute blast being in a trio with them. I reflected a lot this week on the past 2 years and the things I have learned. I want to make a brief summary of my mission and say what I learned from each of my areas and companions! It will probably be boring for you, but it's mostly just for me to write down some thoughts to look back on one day haha. Mexico MTC - Elder Martin I learned spanish, kinda. Elder Martin has also taught me a lot about friendship and loyalty. He is SUCH a good friend. I am still learning from him ev...

EMERGENCY *MUST READ*

November 9, 2020 What's up!!!! I'm not sure if you all heard, but the elections were this week. We don't watch the news or anything so I received the update when the ENTIRE city went out onto the streets with cowbells, trumpets, frying pans, and other noisemakers to celebrate. It was crazy. New York is very very very blue. That's all I will say. I emailed President Teuscher about my concerns with my companion's obedience, and he said "I will see what I can do". Well he actually did a LOT to help! He made a whole PowerPoint presentation on obedience and shared it in a mission-wide devotional. We also had a mission leadership meeting in Queens this week and had a big discussion about how to help the 27 new incoming missionaries be obedient... the answer: WE ARE OBEDIENT OURSELVES. We made plans to do a 40 day fast as a mission from EVERYTHING we may cut corners on when it comes to rules. Anyway, I feel like my emails to President sparked a big mission-wide f...
