5 Languages, 1 Week

 April 12, 2021

What's gooooooooood email squad? I hope y'all are doing dandy. This week was pretty loco.

I went on tons of exchanges this week throughout the mission! I was only in my own area 2 days this week, which was kind of an oof because it is a little hard taking care of the people we are teaching when we aren't there most of the time. But, it was great getting to travel around New York and spending time with missionaries I usually wouldn't get to talk to! I spent a day in Chinatown with the Chinese elders and had some AMAZING Chinese food. That day was insane, I have never worked with Chinese people before and it was so cool! I also got to spend a day in Jamaica, Queens and it was SO fun speaking Spanish again con mi gente. I also got to speak a little Haitian-creole and Portuguese this week! Pretty much my next 3 weeks are going to be spent all around the mission getting to know the strengths/struggles of each area so that I can best know how to help them. I am especially excited to go back to Harlem for a day in a couple weeks to talk to all my old friends there!

Elder Webb and I spent a couple nights this week staring at our transfer board and coming up with different scenarios for transfers, planning (or more like dreaming) of where we wanted to send certain missionaries at transfers. We don't get to make the final decision, but it was fun coming up with scenarios of potential companionships and "match-making" I guess you could say haha, even if none of our ideas actually get used. It was fun and definitely a highlight from my week for some reason.

THE PEOPLE WE TEACH ARE SUPER COOL! We teach a 15 year old named Najae, and she attends seminary, youth activities, took notes on general conference, and is just so awesome. She is planning on getting baptized on April 25th (day before my birthday!) if everything goes smoothly.

One of our recent converts, Steven, is an ANIMAL. I don't know how to describe him, but he is so positive and passionate! We asked him to make a Facebook video for our page, and it turned out SO good! The post completely blew up and got A LOT of attention in all the groups we shared it into. The Teuscher's even shared it onto the mission Facebook page because it is so fire. We love Steven.

Les amo mucho!

The Transition

July 5, 2021 This week was President and Sister Holme's first week as our mission presidents! I've been super nervous about this week for the past 3 months, praying, fasting, and staying up too late thinking about all the things I would need to do as their assistant to help them the best I can. Well, this week turned out to be one of the BEST weeks of my life! It was absolutely amazing! As I explain some of the awesome opportunities I had this week, KEEP IN MIND we worked SO hard this week. Harder than ever before. It wasn't all just fun and games like it might sound haha.  First of all, I attended the transition dinner between the Teuschers and the Holmes, and it was really fun just hanging out and joking around with everyone. The Teuschers surprised me, Elder Money, and President Holmes with matching "unity ties". They have little boat steering wheels on them to basically say "you guys are in charge now". I am so so soooo grateful for that whole exper...

Fireworks or Gunshots?

October 16, 2019 I feel like I am in an episode of Naked and Afraid. Except I'm not naked, I am just afraid. Haha just kidding, but I do feel like I am on survival mode, because we made popcorn in the drying machine because our house doesnt have a microwave. My district also likes playing a game that we like to call, "Fireworks or gunshots". Every night we hear loud bangs, and most of the time it is fireworks. But sometimes, it sounds more like a gunshot, and then we usually hear police sirens afterwards. So we all make guesses on if its a firework, or if someone got shot. Kinda sketchy, but theres not very many other games we can play haha. The CCM is starting to grow on me! Its literally prison but I am used to it. I am on week 3 of 6, so I am halfway done! The first 2 weeks were really, really hard, but I think I have adjusted to the lifestyle by now, and warmed up to everybody. But staying inside the classroom all day, everyday is driving me crazy! I am counting down...

Harlem is ALIVE

January 11, 2021  BUENOSSS DÍAS A TODOSSSSSSS!!!!! How are you all doing? I am doing well, and my week was awesome! Hopefully you are all doing well! Let me know if I can pray for anything or anyone! Okay, here are some of the highlights from the week: - ALEJANDRO PASSED HIS BAPTISMAL INTERVIEW! We have only been teaching him for 5 weeks and I was confident he would pass. He is SO prepared! His baptism will be this Saturday and we are all so excited! He told us he wants to be in contact with us forever and one day get our grandkids together to tell them "our story". He is the best! I wish you all could meet him because he just RADIATES joy all the time. He is just so thankful he met us and found the church! - One of our favorite members, Hermano Herrera, invited us to go running with him one morning. We excitedly accepted, but we didn't realize what we had just gotten ourselves into. Apparently Hermano Herrera runs marathons and is an ANIMAL. We met him in Central Park a...
