Moving Downtown + Zone Conference Week

 July 12, 2021

What's up email squad 😎 Back at it again with anotha weekly email, comin' in hot 🔥

This week was Zone Conference week! I got to travel around the mission every day and attend each zone conference, which was a sweet experience! Usually that is the best day ever for missionaries (and it still is), but it is so much more work when you're an assistant to a brand new mission president who has no idea what a Zone Conference even is haha. He thought Harlem was in Long Island, so I have my work cut out for me haha. We planned the whole agenda for each day, gave a training to the mission about finding, setup chairs/tables/the projector, and made sure everything went smoothly every day. It turned out great! I can't even begin to describe the experiences I have had these last few weeks. THIS TIME IS SO SACRED TO ME. Being with the Holmes all day, every day has resulted in such incredible, spiritual, life changing discussions. Sometimes we are having deep gospel discussions, and sometimes we are laughing so hard we are crying (literally). They are like my best friends, we are so close and comfortable around each other and I am so grateful for that. So so so grateful! We are close enough to where they tease us and we can tease them back and it feels totally normal. Elder Money and I feel part of their family :) Sorry mom and dad.

If you know anything about the geography of Manhattan, you know Inwood (where we live), and Lincoln Square (where they live) is not very close. It's about a 45 minute subway ride. We got really tired of traveling back and forth early every morning and late every night. We found out that there are some vacant apartments in the mission home apartment building, so guess what we did! WE MOVED IN! Yes, that's right. We now have a weekend home in Inwood, and a week day home in Lincoln Square. We wake up and are ALREADY AT THE MISSION HOME. It's been incredible. We basically live with them now. The runs in Central Park, and the view of the city and the temple out our window are an added bonus too. This is every missionaries dream and I feel very very very very blessed. Like... I am so grateful I sometimes get teary-eyed thinking about it. Life is good right now. Its lots of work, but its good.

President Holmes texted us one day and said "you sacs missed a gourmet lunch Sister Holmes made!" It was SO funny. The word "sac" is kind of like mission slang for "bad missionary", and President called us sacs as a joke haha. He is so funny. BUT THE FUNNIEST PART is that he accidentally sent it to a group chat of all the sign language missionaries in the mission. I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD. All the missionaries were so confused because President randomly texted them calling them sacs. I don't think he ever realized he sent it to the wrong group chat. I couldn't fall asleep last night, I couldn't stop laughing! Those poor ASL missionaries got called sacs by their mission president without any explanation 😂

I got to go on a quick 2 hour exchange with my bestest friend ever, Elder Goodman. We decided to go practice opening our mouths and go street contacting in the POURING RAIN. I had so much fun and we saw some awesome miracles in our short time together!

Last thing! I went on another mini exchange with Elder Valentine in Scarsdale. For those who don't know, Scarsdale is the 2nd richest zip code area in the United States. So, we decided to go knock the doors of all the mansions. It was very intimidating walking up to those massive houses, and we mostly got rejected. But we met 1 awesome lady, had a lesson on her doorstep, and got a return appointment. The next day, I wasn't there, but apparently she committed to try reading the whole Book of Mormon in 1 week! How awesome is that???? Rich people need the gospel too.

That's all I got.

Learning lots. Working hard. Love you all.

- Elder Webster

August 9, 2021 Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week! I'm writing this email having spent 110% of my energy this week on the work of the Lord. I almost have no energy left other than the promise in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". I'm going into my 6th month with little sleep and an enormous workload, and It's catching up to me now, but I'll be okay. I seriously feel like the only thing keeping me going is Jesus Christ, which is an incredible feeling having given everything to the Lord. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm definitely not complaining, but I'm insanely grateful for the opportunity to serve. There is nothing more fulfilling than this work, and even though I feel like I've given everything I have, I still wish I could give more. We picked up 31 new missionaries from the airport this week! Having to organize the logistics for their travel, hotel, and meals was pretty chaotic,...

Goodbye New York City

September 13, 2021 It pains me to say that this was my last week as a missionary. We had a general authority (Elder Bassett) visit the mission all week, and Elder Call and I were in charge of the technology. I could probably write a whole email about all the miracles, struggles, and work that went into that. Maybe that's a story for another day. We picked up my replacement, Elder Wolfgramm, and have been training him on some things before I go. It has been an absolute blast being in a trio with them. I reflected a lot this week on the past 2 years and the things I have learned. I want to make a brief summary of my mission and say what I learned from each of my areas and companions! It will probably be boring for you, but it's mostly just for me to write down some thoughts to look back on one day haha. Mexico MTC - Elder Martin I learned spanish, kinda. Elder Martin has also taught me a lot about friendship and loyalty. He is SUCH a good friend. I am still learning from him ev...

EMERGENCY *MUST READ*

November 9, 2020 What's up!!!! I'm not sure if you all heard, but the elections were this week. We don't watch the news or anything so I received the update when the ENTIRE city went out onto the streets with cowbells, trumpets, frying pans, and other noisemakers to celebrate. It was crazy. New York is very very very blue. That's all I will say. I emailed President Teuscher about my concerns with my companion's obedience, and he said "I will see what I can do". Well he actually did a LOT to help! He made a whole PowerPoint presentation on obedience and shared it in a mission-wide devotional. We also had a mission leadership meeting in Queens this week and had a big discussion about how to help the 27 new incoming missionaries be obedient... the answer: WE ARE OBEDIENT OURSELVES. We made plans to do a 40 day fast as a mission from EVERYTHING we may cut corners on when it comes to rules. Anyway, I feel like my emails to President sparked a big mission-wide f...
