The Temple and a Taco Stand

 August 30, 2021

buenos días hermanos y hermanas! How you livin????

I got to go to the temple this week! The last time I went to the temple was in Mexico at the MTC, almost 2 years ago. I was blown away by how my understanding of the gospel has improved since then. The temple made SO much more sense and I felt the spirit really strongly. I had some really powerful experiences and insights while I was in there that I will never forget.

About 2 weeks ago, Elder Call and I bought tacos from a guy named Mario at a taco stand on the street. We talked to him while he made our tacos, and we ended up inviting him to be baptized right there on the street! Only 2 weeks later, and HE WAS BAPTIZED YESTERDAY! It was a huge miracle. I have struggled with the fact that I haven't had much time to find or teach lately, and have been praying to find ways to more feel like I am fulfilling my missionary  purpose. Mario was definitely an answer to my prayers and I am so grateful to God for providing me with that experience to let me know he is proud of my hard work. Office work doesn't typically have much "fruit", so I was overjoyed to have that experience.

President told us that there was a companionship in the Bronx that didn't really know how to street contact, so he asked us to go on an exchange and help them. I went with a missionary that has only been out for 4 weeks, and I tried my hardest to talk to as many people as possible to show him how it should look like. The exchange was only an hour long, and we got 10 phone numbers! It was SO effective and it was fun to grind in SPANISH again in the ghettos of the Bronx (it's been 6 months since I spoke Spanish). I still got it 😎

I had my last exchange of my whole mission in Rego Park, Queens, where I coincidentally had my FIRST exchange of my mission. I didn't plan that, it just worked out that way. Crazy stuff.

Love you all! See you in 2 weeks 😳

August 9, 2021 Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week! I'm writing this email having spent 110% of my energy this week on the work of the Lord. I almost have no energy left other than the promise in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". I'm going into my 6th month with little sleep and an enormous workload, and It's catching up to me now, but I'll be okay. I seriously feel like the only thing keeping me going is Jesus Christ, which is an incredible feeling having given everything to the Lord. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm definitely not complaining, but I'm insanely grateful for the opportunity to serve. There is nothing more fulfilling than this work, and even though I feel like I've given everything I have, I still wish I could give more. We picked up 31 new missionaries from the airport this week! Having to organize the logistics for their travel, hotel, and meals was pretty chaotic,...

Goodbye New York City

September 13, 2021 It pains me to say that this was my last week as a missionary. We had a general authority (Elder Bassett) visit the mission all week, and Elder Call and I were in charge of the technology. I could probably write a whole email about all the miracles, struggles, and work that went into that. Maybe that's a story for another day. We picked up my replacement, Elder Wolfgramm, and have been training him on some things before I go. It has been an absolute blast being in a trio with them. I reflected a lot this week on the past 2 years and the things I have learned. I want to make a brief summary of my mission and say what I learned from each of my areas and companions! It will probably be boring for you, but it's mostly just for me to write down some thoughts to look back on one day haha. Mexico MTC - Elder Martin I learned spanish, kinda. Elder Martin has also taught me a lot about friendship and loyalty. He is SUCH a good friend. I am still learning from him ev...

EMERGENCY *MUST READ*

November 9, 2020 What's up!!!! I'm not sure if you all heard, but the elections were this week. We don't watch the news or anything so I received the update when the ENTIRE city went out onto the streets with cowbells, trumpets, frying pans, and other noisemakers to celebrate. It was crazy. New York is very very very blue. That's all I will say. I emailed President Teuscher about my concerns with my companion's obedience, and he said "I will see what I can do". Well he actually did a LOT to help! He made a whole PowerPoint presentation on obedience and shared it in a mission-wide devotional. We also had a mission leadership meeting in Queens this week and had a big discussion about how to help the 27 new incoming missionaries be obedient... the answer: WE ARE OBEDIENT OURSELVES. We made plans to do a 40 day fast as a mission from EVERYTHING we may cut corners on when it comes to rules. Anyway, I feel like my emails to President sparked a big mission-wide f...
