TRANSFERS

 February 15, 2021

Well, my time in Harlem is coming to an end. I seriously love this place sooo much and I just want to stay here forever. But, at the same time, I feel like I have accomplished all I needed to accomplish here, and I am satisfied with the impact I have made! So, it's time for me to move on to... drum roll please... White Plains! For those of you who don't know where that is, it's in upstate New York, a little bit north of The Bronx. There are lots of trees and nature, which will be a first for me on my mission haha. I am excited because I have been kind of feeling claustrophobic with all the tall buildings in Manhattan. The subway has been my primary form of transportation, and now I will be in my first car area! I haven't driven a car in almost 17 months, so it's going to feel REALLY weird! My new companion will be Elder Taylor! The only things I know about him is that he just finished being trained, and that he speaks fluent Hebrew haha. He seems like a really awesome guy and I am excited to get to know him more. I am still going to be a zone leader, but over the Westchester Zone. My zone leader companion is Elder Giles (who also spells his first name like Jaxon, and we kinda knew each other before the mission... what are the odds!) Also, my MTC companion, Elder Martin, will be in my district! I am so excited to see him all the time and go on exchanges!!! ALSO, one of my FAVORITE companions ever, Elder Goodman, will be taking my spot here in Harlem. Elder Goodman and Elder Wooley are like my best friends, and now they are coming to my favorite area to be zone leaders together. ABSOLUTE LEGENDS!

Enough about transfers, my last week in Harlem was SO good!!!!! Our recent convert Luis gave his first talk at church and it was REALLY good! Afterwards, our other recent convert, Alejandro, received the priesthood! He is so happy! Alejandro bought the 3 of us matching ties, since he knew I was leaving soon. I love him so much!

We are working with the restaurant Exotic Empanadas NYC to share the gospel with their customers. Isn't that a cool sentence? We went there and filmed a video in the kitchen about the importance of salt in cooking, and what the Bible says about salt. It was really fun and the video turned out SUPER GOOD! It will be posted tonight on the Manhattan Spanish facebook page at 6:00! Go watch it! It is so cool!

I went on some fire exchanges this week with Elders money, Cloward, and Stephenson and we just grindddeedddd. It was awesome. Elder Wooley and I have been talking in British accents for the past 4 days and for some reason we can't stop. Like, today while reading the scriptures, I was accidentally reading it in an accent inside my head. Its been really funny but its getting kind of out of hand. It's so hard to stop.

THATS IT!! THATS A WRAP FOR ME IN HARLEM! IM SUPER SAD TO LEAVE BUT WHITE PLAINS WILL BE AWESOME!

Zone Conference Week

August 16, 2021 What's good!!! This week was Zone Conference week, so we were running all over the mission giving trainings and making sure everything went smoothly. It was my last Zone Conference ever, which was sad, but I was honestly pretty relieved after it was over because its really stressful organizing the whole thing. Departing missionaries are always asked to share their testimony at their last Zone Conference, but because I attended ALL the zone conferences, I got to do it every day.  We dropped Elder Money off at the airport on Thursday morning! It was super sad! I love that guy. He was such a great companion! Elder Call and I actually had time to do normal missionary work yesterday for the first time in months! We grabbed a stack of Book of Mormons and rode the subway up and down Manhattan for a few hours and passed out as many as we could. Elder Call met a guy named Nephi who isn't even a member of the church. It was so cool. I met a guy from The Bronx that spit ...

"Hurricane" Henri

August 23, 2021 To whom it may concern, This week was great! There was a hurricane over the weekend so we were in a hurry trying to contact parents and get missionaries who live on the coast to safer places to live as we waited out the storm. We were all very underwhelmed because it was probably the weakest hurricane in history haha, but I am glad no damage was done! All missionaries were on lockdown and church was cancelled. We live in the same building as President and Sister Holmes, so we were on lockdown with them and spent the day working on things together. I feel extremely blessed. They are changing my life every day. Elder Call and I got to proselyte a lot this week! It was my first time doing it in a few months, so we gave it everything we had, especially because neither of us have much time left to do it! We found a few new people to teach, but the biggest miracle was Mario! We met him at a taco stand when we were getting lunch. It turns out he was already meeting with t...

Grind Szn

August 9, 2021 Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week! I'm writing this email having spent 110% of my energy this week on the work of the Lord. I almost have no energy left other than the promise in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". I'm going into my 6th month with little sleep and an enormous workload, and It's catching up to me now, but I'll be okay. I seriously feel like the only thing keeping me going is Jesus Christ, which is an incredible feeling having given everything to the Lord. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm definitely not complaining, but I'm insanely grateful for the opportunity to serve. There is nothing more fulfilling than this work, and even though I feel like I've given everything I have, I still wish I could give more. We picked up 31 new missionaries from the airport this week! Having to organize the logistics for their travel, hotel, and meals was pretty chaotic,...
