Yes, the rumors are true. "The field is white already to harvest" here in White Plains, New York. I am really enjoying my new area so far! Leaving Harlem was seriously one of the hardest things to do EVER, but White Plains is pretty awesome so far and I cannot complain. I live in Scarsdale, which, according to google, is a small village founded by British settlers back in the 1700's . It DEFINITELY feels very British and old here! Lots of cobblestone and old smelling wood... I dig it. Also, I am basically neighbors with President Teuscher now, and I ran into him a couple of times this week, which was pretty crazy. Also, I HAVE A CAR!!!!!!!!! I got to drive for the first time in my whole mission this week and it TOTALLY WENT WEL!! It felt really nice to drive again! And it feels really good to be in a small little town! Theres no honking cars, loud music, rats, pigeons, or drug addicts hanging out by my apartment anymore. Its a nice change.
1 cool thing about White Plains is that the people I find on Facebook that live here are completely normal people! In Manhattan I could only ever find people who were lowkey insane, on drugs, or very worldly. Those kinds of people are usually searching for a better life, so it worked out well. But here, everyone I have met is super family oriented, respectful, and normal. I was able to find a WHOLE NEW FAMILY to teach just in my first few days here! The field really is white. Speaking of which, we have a few people that could get baptized soon! 1 is scheduled for this Saturday, but it might get pushed back depending on how his interview goes. His name is Jorge and he is super cool!
Another cool thing is that since I am a zone leader here, and the AP's are in my zone, I can log into their area book whenever I want and see what they are up to. Its usually nothing exciting, but its a cool flex to say that I can do that haha.
My companion Elder Taylor is pretty interesting! He was born and raised on a mountain, like an hour away from civilization. He was home schooled and never had a phone until his mission, and so he has been super cut off from society his whole life haha. He told me that he didn't even know what Covid was until June of 2020 haha. Anyway, he is super good at pretty much everything, from accents, to horse back riding, to racing cars, he's done it all. The 1 thing he isn't very good at is Spanish, which is unfortunate because thats probably the thing we NEED him to be good at. I've pretty much had to teach all of our lessons because he doesn't understand anything. I have been trying to teach him the basics during our language study and he is kind of struggling figuring it out, but that's okay. He'll get it eventually.
Please pray for miracles in our area and other areas in the mission! We have set some big goals as a mission and we are all praying for miracles to have the next 6 months be some of our highest baptizing months ever. Thank you!
Have a great week!!!
Elder Webster
PS. A few of these pictures are from last p-day, when I was in Manhattan
