BIG NEWS!

 May 10, 2021

I knew this week would be crazy, but WOW I did not expect it to go the way it did. We found out that when President Holmes gets here, the mission home and mission office will move from Scarsdale to... drum roll please... MANHATTAN! That means that I'M MOVING TO MANHATTAN TOO! AGAIN! To get settled in before the new mission president gets here, I am moving to Manhattan TOMORROW and will spend the rest of my mission there in an area called Inwood (or Washington Heights for those of you who are rusty on your New York geography). I am really excited! Literally EVERYTHING is changing and I am going to have to figure out how to do things in a whole new way.

Speaking of changes, I have a new companion! I'm not supposed to share many details about what goes on during transfer planning, but it was really cool sitting in a room with President Teuscher and seeing how he relies on the spirit to decide where we serve and who we serve with. After much discussion and prayer, Elder Money is the new assistant! He is AWESOME and I'm really excited to be companions! We just love each other so far! It was also super fun getting to go drive in the tesla to the Deli with President.

Most missionaries spend about half of their mission in city areas, and half in car areas. Well, since we are unexpectedly moving to Manhattan, by the time I finish my mission, I will have only served about 12 weeks out of my whole 2 years in a car area. I'm not complaining in the slightest, I love the city. I still have 3 cars though... but I'll live in Manhattan. Pray that I don't get road rage on a daily basis.

We were up till past midnight every day grinding transfer plans and other random projects, and then waking up at 6 AM to have time to finish things because there was just not enough hours in the day to have things done. We brought our laptops to Texas Roadhouse and had a FANTASTIC meal as we finalized the transfer script. It was awesome... we had SO much fun. Also, we had MLC this week, which is a leadership meeting with like 50 other missionaries. We were SO sneaky and hid Elder Money in a top secret location, and nobody suspected a thing. President likes things to remain a secret until transfer calls, so it was pretty fun trying to hide him all week. One time, we had to hide Elder Money in the back of the van behind a mattress for over an hour because we had a few other missionaries IN THE VAN WITH US. They never found him they entire car ride and it was awesome haha.

Sadly, we were so busy with getting ready to move, and planning transfers, that we didn't have much time to teach lessons this week :( Also, I barely have a p-day today because we have to go pick up a big group of new missionaries in the middle of the day and then entertain them until tomorrow haha. We get to stay in a hotel with them in Queens tonight, which will be fun!

OKAY THATS ALL MY NEWS I THINK! There's a million things going on all at once and I'm kinda freaking out but life is good for the most part! Love you all!

- Elder Webster

August 9, 2021 Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week! I'm writing this email having spent 110% of my energy this week on the work of the Lord. I almost have no energy left other than the promise in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". I'm going into my 6th month with little sleep and an enormous workload, and It's catching up to me now, but I'll be okay. I seriously feel like the only thing keeping me going is Jesus Christ, which is an incredible feeling having given everything to the Lord. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm definitely not complaining, but I'm insanely grateful for the opportunity to serve. There is nothing more fulfilling than this work, and even though I feel like I've given everything I have, I still wish I could give more. We picked up 31 new missionaries from the airport this week! Having to organize the logistics for their travel, hotel, and meals was pretty chaotic,...

Goodbye New York City

September 13, 2021 It pains me to say that this was my last week as a missionary. We had a general authority (Elder Bassett) visit the mission all week, and Elder Call and I were in charge of the technology. I could probably write a whole email about all the miracles, struggles, and work that went into that. Maybe that's a story for another day. We picked up my replacement, Elder Wolfgramm, and have been training him on some things before I go. It has been an absolute blast being in a trio with them. I reflected a lot this week on the past 2 years and the things I have learned. I want to make a brief summary of my mission and say what I learned from each of my areas and companions! It will probably be boring for you, but it's mostly just for me to write down some thoughts to look back on one day haha. Mexico MTC - Elder Martin I learned spanish, kinda. Elder Martin has also taught me a lot about friendship and loyalty. He is SUCH a good friend. I am still learning from him ev...

EMERGENCY *MUST READ*

November 9, 2020 What's up!!!! I'm not sure if you all heard, but the elections were this week. We don't watch the news or anything so I received the update when the ENTIRE city went out onto the streets with cowbells, trumpets, frying pans, and other noisemakers to celebrate. It was crazy. New York is very very very blue. That's all I will say. I emailed President Teuscher about my concerns with my companion's obedience, and he said "I will see what I can do". Well he actually did a LOT to help! He made a whole PowerPoint presentation on obedience and shared it in a mission-wide devotional. We also had a mission leadership meeting in Queens this week and had a big discussion about how to help the 27 new incoming missionaries be obedient... the answer: WE ARE OBEDIENT OURSELVES. We made plans to do a 40 day fast as a mission from EVERYTHING we may cut corners on when it comes to rules. Anyway, I feel like my emails to President sparked a big mission-wide f...
