5 Languages, 1 Week

April 12, 2021 What's gooooooooood email squad? I hope y'all are doing dandy. This week was pretty loco. I went on tons of exchanges this week throughout the mission! I was only in my own area 2 days this week, which was kind of an oof because it is a little hard taking care of the people we are teaching when we aren't there most of the time. But, it was great getting to travel around New York and spending time with missionaries I usually wouldn't get to talk to! I spent a day in Chinatown with the Chinese elders and had some AMAZING Chinese food. That day was insane, I have never worked with Chinese people before and it was so cool! I also got to spend a day in Jamaica, Queens and it was SO fun speaking Spanish again con mi gente. I also got to speak a little Haitian-creole and Portuguese this week! Pretty much my next 3 weeks are going to be spent all around the mission getting to know the strengths/struggles of each area so that I can best know how to help them. I ...

Pressure Cooker

April 5, 2021 My first official week as an assistant was WILD. I can't think of another time in my life that I could possibly be more busy than I am right now. We've been up and working from 6 AM to midnight (sometimes later) every day. It's intense but its been fun doing it all with Elder Webb! Weeks 1 and 6 of the transfer are the craziest, so I think things will slow down a little. I've had some really incredible and unique experiences just in my first week. One of my favorites being our "transfer planning" meeting with President, where he pretty much asked us what I think the mission needs right now... and then we planned Zone Conference and devotionals and other meetings to help achieve that need. It is super cool getting a say in what the mission focuses on, but I have been relying heavily on prayer and revelation to help inspire me to know what to do, because I am not leading the mission, God is. It stresses me out a little, but the spirit tends to giv...

AP Webster

March 29, 2021 WOW! This week completely flipped my whole world upside down. I am full of SO many thoughts and emotions. On Thursday morning, President Teuscher called me and asked me to be an AP. For those of you who don't know what that is, it means Assistant to the President. He told me that he usually has AP's serve for 3 transfers, but he will have me serve for 4 transfers, which is THE REST OF MY MISSION. The reason he wants me to serve longer is because we will be getting a new mission president soon, and he wants me to TRAIN him. He said that new mission presidents don't really know how things work when they first arrive, so he wants me to pretty much be the mission president while he is figuring stuff out. I feel super inadequate to do that, and clueless about where to even start. I. Am. So. Stressed! So after I got the call, I had 15 minutes to pack until I got picked up. I got transferred a week early so that I could help plan transfers and learn how it works (...

The Great Wall of White Plains

March 22, 2021   ¿CÓMO ESTÁN TODOS? ITS ELDER WEBSTER BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH ANOTHER EMAIL! I don't have lots of time today, so I will try to be quick! I had my AP exchange with Elder Walters. It was fire.   I had my interview with President Teuscher. That was also fire. Elder Weller is finding like 8 new people to teach every week just from English class, so I requested an exchange with him to learn how he does it! I learned A LOT and our next couple days are already packed full of 1st lessons with people! I went on another exchange with Elder Martin (wow I go on so many exchanges). That was also fire. We invited 4 people to be baptized (Brayan, Doris, Milly, and Iker), and all of them said YES, but none of them felt ready to commit to a date yet, because they feel like they still need to learn more first. That is okay, at least we know that they are willing, and they know our intentions! Please pray for them to feel ready soon! The CUTEST little girl that I used to teach...

"We're in the endgame now"

March 15, 2021 What's up!!?! I hope you all had a blessed week! The subject of this email is a quote from Avengers Infinity War, which seemed VERY fitting because today is the first day of a HYPE Avengers themed initiative I am doing for my zone. I have done one like it in the past, but it is BACK by popular demand (thanks Elder Giles), and better than ever. The subject of this email is also very fitting because today marks 6 months until the day I go home. WHAT?! How crazy is that? If I was a sister missionary, my mission would already be over! I can hardly comprehend that thought. 6 months left to grind. Also, COVID hit a year ago. Crazy to think its been a whole year since we had to start missionary work from scratch and do it in a whole new way. Its been a ROLLERCOASTER of a year.    Jorge got baptized on Saturday!!! It went really well! The journey has not been easy (for him, or us haha) but he is a happy member of the church now! Yay!! I got sick halfway through t...

Flat Tire and Mini-Golf!

March 8, 2021 Happy Monday everyone! ¿Cómo están? I don't even remember what happened this week, it went by pretty fast. All I know is that I had a bunch of exchanges, and they were probably some of the most fun ones I've had in a while!  On Friday I got to go with Elder Giles to MLC, which means I had to drive us through The Bronx, Harlem, and Queens. Yes, thats right... lil 'ole me drove THROUGH THE CITY and I didn't crash! New York City is like famous for being hard to drive in, but I was able to do it! It took a LOT of focus though, and my brain was tired afterwards haha. At MLC I got to see the homies Elder Wooley and Elder Goodman, and oh man I just love them so much. Earlier in the week I didn't have as much success driving haha. I was on an exchange with Elder Stucki, and we got a flat tire! It was 20 degrees and dark outside, and neither of us have ever changed a tire by ourselves before. It sounds like a pretty miserable situation, but it was probably the...
